The Tree of Life Series
The Tree of Life Series contains characters in normal and abnormal situations. In one, the protagonist learns about her family heritage, angels, bullying and anti-immigrant periods in the United States (My Mother is an Immigrant), while in another, a family faces a lockdown in France during the Covid- 19 lockdown (What’s This All About?) and finds a silver lining. The stories show kids, who while young, are able to think analytically and through their generosity and caring acts, find solutions to current problems.
My Mother is an Immigrant
Ten year old Joanna learns her mother is Spanish and of her mother and grandmother’s immigrant history. She becomes concerned about the way immigrants are treated today. In trying to find a way to understand the hate and bullying, she writes a story about a young guardian angel’s first assignment, which goes awry when her young charge is bullied. The angel comes up with a brilliant solution to bullying.
What’s This all about?
A story for children and adults about the Covid-19 pandemic. A little girl thinks it odd when her school is cancelled for the day and then indefinitely. She finds it’s hard to get a straight answer from her parents about what is going on. Finally, after her father gives her a simple but straightforward answer, she takes things in her stride and helps others. She ends up finding out that spending good family time under any circumstance can be fun.
